Wyoming Hunt Area 7 is a vertical transition unit where a sage and greasewood basin floor around 4,200 feet lifts abruptly into timbered shoulders and alpine ridgelines pushing past 10,000 feet, so elk shift with the season: water-tethered to perennial creeks and shaded mid-elevation seeps in the early dry phase, then redistributing onto aspen edges and mid-mountain benches near 7,000 to 8,500 feet once frosts arrive.
