Wyoming Area 41 is a unit of extremes stacked side by side, where deer hunters work a west-to-east transect from arid Bighorn Basin badlands (around 3,800 to 4,400 feet) up through cliff-broken Shell Canyon into the subalpine benches of the western Bighorns near 10,000 feet. We map the water story that drives it: perennial Shell Creek and high seeps up top, scarce basin springs and stock tanks below, plus the aspen and mountain-park edges that pull animals in.
