Wyoming's Unit 2 is a study in collision, where the pine-timbered limestone uplift of the Bear Lodge Mountains spills into open shortgrass prairie and checkerboarded ag bottoms, giving deer hunters edge habitat in every direction. The unit floor runs near 3,600 feet along the Belle Fourche River and climbs to roughly 6,650 feet at Warren Peak, with cold limestone springs feeding Sand Creek, Beaver Creek, and Redwater Creek through drought years, and bur oak mast and mountain mahogany driving the browse.
