GMU 346 around Lake Wenatchee is pure eastern-slope North Cascades: glacier-carved U-shaped drainages of the Wenatchee and White Rivers climbing from 1,800-foot valley floors to 8,000-foot divide ridges near Nason Ridge and the Chiwawa headwaters, so elk hunters should plan around terrain and cover rather than water, which is abundant everywhere here. We map the huckleberry and avalanche-chute forage, the seasonal push down to those 3,500 to 5,500 foot benches, and the Forest Service arterial access.
