Washington Elk Unit 251

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Washington Game Management Unit 251.

GMU 251, the Mission Unit, is a two-world elk unit on the dry east slope of the Cascades in Chelan County, where long north-south ridges (Mission, Tronsen, Naneum, and the Stemilt highlands) climb from 800-foot orchard bottoms to nearly 7,000 feet on the Wenatchee Crest. Elk shift with that 5,000 feet of relief: north-facing springs and seeps near 4,000 to 5,500 feet in the early heat, then low south-facing benches above Wenatchee and Cashmere once snow closes the crest. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, and a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study it on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
