Pennsylvania Deer Unit 5A

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Pennsylvania Game Management Unit 5A.

WMU 5A is rolling Piedmont farmland cradling a single hard ridge: most of the unit is gentle ag ground, but the western flank climbs the South Mountain spine to roughly 2,000 feet of steep, laurel-choked oak, while creek bottoms east of York sit near 300 feet. We map where the Conodoguinet, Yellow Breeches, and Conewago drainages and spring seeps at the mountain's base pull deer toward hard mast and waste grain. The pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, and a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose into onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
