Pennsylvania Deer Unit 4D

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Pennsylvania Game Management Unit 4D.

WMU 4D is classic Pennsylvania Ridge-and-Valley country, where long parallel spines like Shade, Jacks, and Mahantango Mountains run for tens of miles above agricultural valleys, and that geometry shapes everything a deer hunter does here. Public land sits high on the ridges while deer cross private farm valleys to feed, so the pattern is a ridge-down hunt with constant boundary awareness. Ridgetops climb to 1,800 to 2,300 feet in dry chestnut-oak and laurel, water runs only in the valleys (Penns, Middle, and Mahantango Creeks), and hard mast drives fall movement. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
