Pennsylvania's WMU 4C is classic ridge-and-valley deer country, long parallel hardwood ridges running northeast to southwest, separated by narrow farm valleys and folded over sandstone caprock. Floors sit around 500 to 700 feet and climb past 2,200 along Bald Eagle, Nittany, White Deer, and Jacks Mountains, where deer key on red, white, and chestnut oak acorns and slip to seeps two-thirds up the slope for water.
