Montana Elk Unit 110

Hunting District 110 is deep, wet, heavily timbered mountain country in the North Fork Flathead drainage, closer in feel to the Pacific Northwest than to Montana's dry plains, and for elk that means short sightlines, steep sustained climbs, and reading cover instead of water. The valley bottoms near 3,000 feet rise into the Whitefish Range at Nasukoin Mountain (roughly 8,086 feet), with Glacier National Park a hard no-hunting boundary across the river. Because creeks like Trail, Whale, and Red Meadow put water everywhere, elk key on forage edges, huckleberry and serviceberry in the logging cuts, not springs.
