Montana Deer Unit 340

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Montana Game Management Unit 340.

Hunting District 340 is the rugged spine of the Pioneer Mountains in southwest Montana's Beaverhead County, a unit with two faces: the glaciated granite alpine of the East Pioneers and the softer timbered ridges and benches of the West Pioneers. Deer hunters should know this is snowmelt country, where the Wise River drainage and perennial creeks feed forage from sagebrush flats near 5,500 feet up through subalpine parks, and where game slides to lower south and west aspects as snow closes the high routes. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
