Michigan Deer Unit 7

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Michigan Game Management Unit 7.

Michigan's Unit 7 (Alpena County) is a deer hunter's puzzle of low-relief glacial ground, where hardwood ridges dissolve into cedar and tamarack swamps threaded by the Thunder Bay River system and edged by Lake Huron's limestone coast. The land barely climbs from 580 feet at the shore to 900 feet on the interior moraines, so wet feet, not vertical effort, define the challenge. Deer key on beech and oak mast, aspen browse, and the agricultural edges scattered through the private mosaic. Our data pack delivers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, and a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
