Michigan Deer Unit 56

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Michigan Game Management Unit 56.

Michigan DMU 56 in Iosco County is sand country with a twist: a glacially flattened mosaic of jack pine barrens and oak-aspen ridges suddenly split by the deeply incised Au Sable River corridor, where bluffs drop 100 to 200 feet near Lumberman's Monument. Deer hunters work the edges where the pine plains (650 to 800 ft) meet hardwood ridges and oak mast above, with public ground sprawling across the Huron National Forest while private land curtains the Lake Huron shoreline. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
