GMU 69 is a true high-country elk unit built on the Bear River Range, a north-south spine of folded limestone and quartzite where valley floors near 5,800 feet climb past 9,500 feet along the Naomi-Cherry-Meade ridges in under three miles. Elk shift with the season: north-facing draws and headwater springs in the hot early phase, mid-mountain benches between 7,200 and 8,400 feet at the gold-aspen transition, then warm lower aspects above the private valley ground once snow shuts the upper roads. Perennial creeks like Cub River, Mink Creek, and Strawberry Creek run reliably late, and forage anchors on aspen and burn edges.
