Idaho Elk Unit 4

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Idaho Game Management Unit 4.

Idaho's Unit 4 is a temperate inland rainforest in the far northern Panhandle, where the Selkirk crest climbs above 7,000 feet while the Kootenai bottoms sit near 1,800, so elk hunters face sustained 2,000 to 4,000 foot timber climbs through cover that often closes to under 30 yards. Water is everywhere (Long Canyon, Smith, Myrtle, and Trout Creek drainages run year-round), and huckleberry benches and old burns drive the forage. Our pack delivers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, and a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
