Idaho Elk Unit 1

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Idaho Game Management Unit 1.

Idaho Unit 1 is the far northern tip of the Panhandle, a wet, intensely vertical slice of Inland Northwest rainforest where drainages climb 3,000 to 4,000 vertical feet in under two miles, so elk hunters live and die by aspect and access. Floors sit near 1,800 feet along the Kootenai and Moyie corridors while the Selkirk Crest pushes past 7,700, and huckleberry, ripening from late July into early September, pulls game to mid-elevation chutes. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, and a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
