Idaho Unit 7 is steep, densely timbered Inland Northwest canyon country in the southern Clearwater Mountains, where finger ridges drop 2,000 to 3,000 feet into shadowed creek bottoms, and that vertical, enclosed terrain dictates how deer use cover and water. The floor sits near 1,500 feet along the North Fork Clearwater and Dworshak Reservoir, climbing to roughly 6,200 feet near Pot Mountain, with perennial drainages like Beaver, Skull, and Quartz Creek and forage tied tightly to old burns and 10 to 30 year-old cuts.
