Idaho Deer Unit 50

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Idaho Game Management Unit 50.

Idaho's Unit 50 is the Big Lost River country, a broad sagebrush-and-hay valley walled by two steep fault-block ranges: the Lost River Range to the east, the Pioneer and White Knob Mountains to the west, with peaks topping 11,000 feet and 4,000 to 5,000 feet of relief between river bottom and ridgeline. Deer hunters live in the elevation bands here, from 5,500-foot sagebrush flats and Big Lost River riparian galleries up through mid-elevation mahogany and aspen benches (7,500 to 9,000 feet) where forage, water, and cover overlap. Our pack breaks it all down: Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, and a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
