Colorado Turkey Unit 24

Unit 24 turkey hunters are working the southern flank of the Flat Tops Plateau, where basalt-capped mesas drop through aspen-cloaked benches and dark timber toward the White River, with elevations running from about 6,400 feet in the river corridor up past 12,000 feet on the rim. The mid-elevation aspen and Gambel oak mosaics between roughly 7,500 and 9,500 feet, fed by an unusual abundance of perennial water (high lakes, beaver ponds, and reliable headwater creeks), shape where birds travel. A large wilderness core keeps motorized access on foot or horseback, thinning pressure.
