Colorado Elk Unit 62

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Colorado Game Management Unit 62.

GMU 62 hands Colorado elk hunters a unit built on contrast: a high, timbered plateau on the northern flank of the Uncompahgre Plateau that breaks eastward through tangled Gambel oakbrush benches and rim-rock canyons toward the Uncompahgre Valley, climbing from 5,500 feet in the irrigated bottoms past 10,000 feet on the plateau rim. Elk work that oakbrush-conifer edge hard, and water dictates everything, from perennial creeks like Roubideau and Dry Creek to the BLM and USFS guzzlers that hold animals in dry years. Our pack delivers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, and a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
