Colorado GMU 31 is a bench-and-rim unit where more than 6,000 vertical feet stack up from the warm Colorado River bottoms near De Beque (roughly 4,700 feet) to the lake-dotted, 11,000-foot rim of the Grand Mesa, and for elk that punishing middle band matters most.
