Colorado Unit 11 is a stacked, mixed-tenure landscape in Moffat County, where dark-timber ridges along the Bears Ears divide spill south through oak-brush benches into the broad sage basins above the Yampa River, climbing from roughly 6,200 feet to 10,800 feet. Elk hunters here live and die by water (Slater Creek, beaver-influenced aspen springs, and scattered stock tanks) and by Gambel oak, mountain mahogany, and aspen forage, all wrapped in a public/private mosaic with unsigned, stair-stepped boundaries.
