Colorado Deer Unit 81

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Colorado Game Management Unit 81.

Colorado Unit 81 is a deer hunter's vertical puzzle, climbing from 8,000 foot sagebrush flats near Antonito up the volcanic spine of the South San Juan Mountains to a Continental Divide ridgeline above 13,100 feet, where long parallel drainages are split by knife-edge ridges you cannot safely cross on foot. Unlike most Colorado units, water is generous here: the perennial Conejos River, mid-elevation beaver complexes, and high glacial tarns dictate where deer move, especially during early dry stretches. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose into onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
