The floor runs sagebrush parks and oak brush along the Lake Fork of the Gunnison and Cebolla Creek (roughly 7,400 to 7,800 feet), climbing through aspen and dark timber to one of the largest alpine plateaus in the lower 48 atop the Cannibal and Calf Creek country above 12,600 feet. Hidden mid-mountain seeps hold animals after the parks dry out, and late season pushes deer onto south-facing benches.
