GMU 371 is a vertical mosaic south of Steamboat Springs, where long aspen ridges and dark spruce-fir pockets stack between the Yampa River valley and the high subalpine shoulder of the Flat Tops, so deer hunters work layered benches rather than one dominant slope. The unit drops from 6,800 feet along the river to above 11,000 feet near the Sarvis Creek Wilderness, with productive aspen and serviceberry cover in the 7,800 to 9,000 foot band, reliable water off Sarvis and Morrison Creeks, and checkerboarded private inholdings that gate access.
