Colorado Deer Unit 23

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Colorado Game Management Unit 23.

GMU 23 west of Meeker is stepped high-desert deer country, where flat mesas drop off abrupt 800 to 1,500 ft escarpments into oakbrush-choked draws below the Roan Plateau and Cathedral Bluffs. Deer hunters live and die by water here: perennial flow concentrates along Piceance Creek, Yellow Creek, and the White River, while Gambel oak mast and mountain mahogany drive mid-elevation browse on the 7,500 to 8,500 ft benches. Our data pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose into onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
