Colorado's GMU 19 is a plains-to-peaks wedge, and for deer hunters that vertical story is everything: the floor sits near 4,900 feet on the foothill hogbacks outside Fort Collins and climbs almost 8,000 feet to roughly 12,800 at the Comanche Peak Wilderness line. The eastern third is a checkerboard of private ranchland where access is the real constraint, while ponderosa parks, Gambel oak browse, and the Buckhorn and Redstone Creek drainages carry animals through the montane core.
