X-Zone X9B is a study in extreme vertical relief, where the abrupt western face of the White-Inyo Range climbs from roughly 4,100 ft on the Owens Valley floor to above 14,200 ft, gaining 7,000-plus feet in under four horizontal miles. For deer hunters that means glassing open, shaded bowls across a pinyon-juniper mid-belt that gives way to bristlecone and alpine fellfield, with bitterbrush, cliffrose, and mountain mahogany marking the browse and water concentrated in scarce drainages like Cottonwood, Crooked, and Wyman creeks.
