California Deer Unit C4

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for California Game Management Unit C4.

California's C4 is true Inner North Coast Range backcountry, where folded sedimentary ridges peel off the main divide into chaparral-choked canyons and deer hold to north-facing slopes and shaded bottoms near perennial water. Elevations run from 1,500 feet along the Eel River to above 8,000 feet at South Yolla Bolly Mountain, with acorn mast from black, blue, and live oaks and fresh burn-scar browse driving autumn movement, while a road-poor wilderness interior leaves vast basins lightly pressured. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
