California Deer Unit C1

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for California Game Management Unit C1.

Far northern California's C1 is a transition unit where two mountain systems meet across open ground: the steep, timbered Klamath Mountains and Eddy/Trinity Divide to the west, the volcanic Cascade high country to the east, with the semi-arid Shasta Valley braided by the Shasta River in between. Elevations run from about 2,500 feet on the valley floor to roughly 8,400 feet on the eastern peaks, and the forage shifts from bitterbrush and sagebrush on the lower flats to mountain mahogany and ceanothus on the mid-slope breaks. Porous lava swallows surface water in the east, so reliable springs and seeps matter. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
