Arizona Elk Unit 6A

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Arizona Game Management Unit 6A.

Unit 6A is one of Arizona's most meadow-dominated elk ecosystems, a broad, highly glassable plateau south of Flagstaff that trades the cliff-heavy Rim for an open forest and meadow mosaic running from the Mogollon Rim up toward Mormon Lake and Anderson Mesa. Elevations climb from roughly 6,000 feet in the southern drainages to 8,400 feet on the northern mesa tops, so elk shift with snowpack, cool-season grass, and the dirt tanks that concentrate animals in dry years. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, and a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
