Arizona Elk Unit 5BS

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Arizona Game Management Unit 5BS.

Unit 5B South sits southeast of Flagstaff on the elevated Coconino Plateau, where vast ponderosa pine flats are broken by volcanic cinder cones, basalt lava fields, and deep canyons draining toward Clear Creek and the Verde system, terrain elk use for both feeding and cover. Elevations run from roughly 6,000 feet in the canyon bottoms to nearly 8,000 feet on the mesa tops, with grassy parks, cool-season grasses, and largely tank-dependent water shaping movement. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. Study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
