Arizona Elk Unit 5A

Sightings, hotspots, and hunt insights for Arizona Game Management Unit 5A.

Unit 5A sits on top of the world, a high volcanic plateau north of the Mogollon Rim between Flagstaff and Winslow where elk feed in expansive grassy parks instead of broken Rim country. Elevations roll from about 6,500 to 8,500 feet across ponderosa flats, cinder cones, and meadow-to-timber edges, with man-made dirt tanks pulling animals tight in dry years and cool-season grasses driving the herd. Our pack covers Unit Overview and Topography, Vegetation and Hydrology, Seasonal Expectations, Logistics and Access, plus a one-page Essential Recon summary. You study the unit on our interactive map, then export the points you choose to onX or your favorite hunting map.

How this data was collected

Data Hunt Guide aggregates publicly available sighting reports from across the web (social media, hunting forums, harvest reports, and trail-camera shares) and uses a proprietary algorithm to identify high-activity zones (hotspots) within each unit. Our team verifies coordinates manually before publication.
